You can get OS3.9 from AmigaKit or Vesalia too, but...

You need a CD-ROM drive for OS3.9! It can be installed without one too but you need to know what you're doing then; it's not for novices. I think AmigaKit sells harddisks that have OS3.9 preinstalled.

First think of what you want to do with your Amiga. Make a small list. A lot of upgrades don't make any sense if you're not going to use them. It's IMHO just a waste of money.

You don't need OS3.5 or 3.9. You can upgrade 3.1 with a lot of patches from Aminet that give it the (nearly) same functionality.

You already have a nice machine that can be used to make music and play all those classic games! All you need is a big bigger HD. That's why I said to get a HD that isn't bigger than 4Gb (4Gb should be more than enough). That way you have enough space and you don't get into trouble with the 4Gb limit.

You already have 64 Mb of FastRAM. That is a lot for an A1200. I really don't think you need more.

You can see how much memory the Amiga has left at the top of the screen in Workbench. Does the counter really reach zero when you use a lot of apps?
