With all the trouble, I'm wandering why Genesi didn't design their own chip, maybe modify an IBM one, and then get some cheap Chinese Fab to make them.

I'm wondering if it might not have been easier/ cheaper to use an exisiting X86 chipset and then use some glue logic to tie the PPC to it  :-D

Sorry, I realise now that some people might have taken me seriously!!! I was trying to show how rediculess the situation wa with a bit of irony.
