Eurofighter 2000 - Typhoon
« on: February 08, 2003, 03:48:10 PM »
I've been digging around some technical documents and noticed that the Euro fighter now uses 5 PowerPPC microprocessors in instead of the old 68020's the EFA used.

So if any of you happen to stumble across an old Eurofighter or get one for christmas... then why not install AmigaOS 4 on it  :-D

Carefull though, as removing the old firmware will probably invalidate the warrantee, so make sure the fighter is unwanted first.
Also it's unlikely that it will run without serious modification, but I'm sure a polite Email to Hyperion will sort that out...
oh.. no actually they don't take requests do they... I forgot we have to do what we're told...

Another great idea up in smoke  ;-)

I guess you could get hold of one of the old Eurofighter Prototypes (with the 68020s in it) and try and run AmigaOS 3.1 on  :-D

It's made by the company I work for. I started typing this message with the spec of the board then remembered I'm under NDA.... Oops!

We call it the EFAPPC4, you won't find any information on my emplyers website (www.radstone.co.uk) as it's a custom board, not a COTS product. The cost is phenominal for a single board too... well, given the spec.

I'm working on its' upgrade as we speak. BAE want faster and cheaper - don't we all?!

Maybe you could explain the spec in terms of the A1 and Peg... so without the need to actually talk about the EFAPPC4 itself!
