AMIGA OS RUNS ON MACINTOSH PPC!

Didn't they say that would be impossible since Apple would not give out information needed to do the port?  What's changed since they told everyone that it wasn't possible to do a OS4 port to Macs?   Oh yeah, they ran out of Teron mobos to sell with OS4. :lol:

AV's answer, post #48:
Same thread:

"Indeed this is the case.
The (unfinished) MacMini port was done using the sourcecode from Linux,BSD and Darwin as reference (not a single line of code was copied).
And it wasn't a pretty experience.
The Friedens said it was an hell to do because they knew what the situation was."

@Piru

You have to consider that Raffaele could already have recognised the irony and that his reply could have been ironic, too. There are different types and levels of irony.

The only way you will see OS4 released is if AI wins in court and gains all source code and object rights away from Hyperion.  Hyperion is out of the picture entirely with their contract terminated.  AI has taken their Boing Ball home and that is the end of the story for OS4. :horse:

We'll see. I certainly hope that a solution will be found at the end. I'm glad that the development of OS4 is still continuing.

Contract has been terminated. Even if they get to keep the source code, what are they going to do with it without Amiga related trademarks and logos?  :horse:

They could just rename it, and it would still remain Amiga, since OS4 has been written using the original 3.1 sources.

So you can just ignore the fact that it's based on Amiga IP? I'm afraid that will not fly.

Hmm, true, Hyperion can own OS4 only in case of Amiga Inc. bankruptcy, if I recall correctly.

On a lighter note: It's quite hilarious that some have been happy to shoot down MorphOS for just rumours of being based on some 3.1 source code (which it is not, obviosly. Some belgian guy appears to have some serious obsession). When it appears OS4 could really be using the IP illegally... it's completely different story, in fact it will be announced as a positive fact. Talk about double standards.

Only if it was legal, and at first I thought it could be, but now I remembered what's inside Hyperion's contract. On a related note, YellowTab has done an IP theft with Zeta, and they have been lucky Palm hasn't sued them while Zeta was still available commercially.
