I've always preferred the look of "HDx", myself, but it's nothing more than a preference.  Either will work fine with anything.  You just need to edit a config file now and then.

And, if at worst, you can't edit the config file, just throw the command

c:assign hdx: dhx:

(Or vice-versa, depending on which name you need vs. which name you have...)  Amigas are fine with dirty tricks like that.  You could even do something horrible like

c:assign hd0: dh1:

The system would be fine with that, if you can live with your own non-stop headaches and nightmares.

I've always used HD0-HD1 etc. for harddrives to make it stand out
from the DFx ones, like CDx for CD-ROM's.

Very good point. So, Bloodline.... Do you mount your CD-ROM as DC0: then?  It *WOULD* be more logical, by your method.   ;)

or those oddball names with identification to the disk manufacturer. qdh0, sdh0 etc - wow. First time I wondered something was horribly wrong...

Yeah, those were the worst.  I think my old DataFlyer controller actually suggested labeling a device as DFDH0: once.   I just wanted to smack whoever wrote that install disk software.
