New Mediator doesn't work
« on: July 20, 2012, 08:56:17 AM »
Hi all,

I've bought a new Mediator 4000Di from Elbox some months ago. I've sent it back to Elbox once and got it back one month later "repaired". But it still does not work, and elbox does not answere anymore. The current problem is that when I double click the Radeon monitor the system freezes. Yesterday I saw before that a strange behavior, negative or zero amount of chip mem in the workbench menu bar. I'm glad that after a long discussion and the repair of the card the Mediator recognizes my Radeon 9200 correctly (as far as I know):

PciInfo report:

Pci Device 1:
   VendorID: $1002
VendorName: ATI Technologies Inc. / Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
   DeviceID: $5c61
   DeviceName: bk-ati ver008.016m.085.006 Mobility Radeon 9200
   ClassCode: $30000
   RevisionID: $1
   InterruptPin: 3
   SubsystemVendorID: $1
   SubsystemID: $1
   MemSpace0: $60000000 - $6fffffff
   IOSpace1: $40c06000 - $40c060ff
   MemSpace2: $70000000 - $7000ffff
   RomSpace: $70020000 - $7003ffff

But maybe someone can help me to get if fully working? Seems elbox gave it up.

Btw: OS4 even does not boot.

It's a 5V version which I've bought together with the mediator from Elbox. A pci 100 mbit/s network card does also not work. It's a 8039 rtl.

It is unlikely that the power supply is under powered as a Toaster 4000 and TBC cards plus accelerator runs fine on other A4000D's; the RTL8039 requires some PCI ram to function and it borrows from the graphic card.

That would explain why the RTL8039 does not work, as the gfx does not work ;-)
Ok thanks for all the hints, I will try them out. Or maybe someone has another one?

I tried it out now, but even the newest driver does not help. I even saw negative values for chip and fast mem before it freezed. What would be the cheapest pci card to test the Mediator (since I only have the gfx and network card which only works if the gfx card works)?

Today I found out, if I delete the Mediator directory in ENV the driver does not crash anymore when I double click the Monitor. I'm also able to get a picture from the Radeon, but it looks strange:

As you can see, when I move the mouse there is a moving square on the screen. So I would say, the card is somehow working.

Any ideas? Maybe I need the correct screen settings for Picasso96. Can someone send me some screen modes that I can import with Picasso96Mode? Thx!
