Just got a GP2X-F100 for my Birthday
« on: November 17, 2006, 02:21:11 AM »
Hi All,
Well I got a nice little surprise when I came home today. Apparently my younger Sister (aka the favorite one  :-)) ordered me a GP2X from Play-Asia.com for my birthday  :-D
I haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet (No SD card to spare  :-() but I can't wait to download UAE and some other emulators and give it a go  :-)

One concern though, I'm not sure if this is the MK2 unit or the original MK1  :-?  On the box there's a little sticker that says MK2 but when I looked at the system info it just says GP2X-F100 (on the back it says F100(B)).  Is there any way to tell for sure what model I have?

Edit: I notice that the direction nob has a little bump in the middle, is this a bad sign :-?

Cool thanks for all the info  :-)

Edit: Okay new issue, I can not seem to connect the unit to my PC :-?  Strangely only two of the eight USB ports on my computer see the GP2X when it is connected and even then they report that the device is "malfunctioning"

I did some digging online and it seems that this problem was common for GP2X prior to 2.00 but according to my system I'm using 2.00  :-? I'm going to try replacing the USB cable tomorrow and see if that helps.

@coldfish
Thanks for the advice  :-)
I'll try and pick up an SD card reader this afternoon (and heck maybe even a new 2GB card).

I'll have to look more into over clocking as it's been mentioned several times (in this and other threads) now but I honestly have no clue how to do it :roll:
