I have a 128D that powers on, but I get no display. Neither 40 column nor 80 column. I have hacked in an extra SID chip that uses the R/F out as an extra audio line. Though it seems the volume coming through it was about 1/6th of what it should be (may need a circuit boost to pre-amp). Could just be a bad ground.
I haven't played with it enough to see if typing:

actually accesses the disk drive. God I used to love that thing...
