Are the XC68882 FPUs the same as the MC68882 FPUs?

I've seen XC68882R50As and MC68882R50As around and I was wondering...

So XC is "experimental"? Like the planes?
Do you think it would run fine in an Amiga accelerator?
What's the most common part for a 68882 FPU?
