The version of CrossDOS that ships with Workbench 2.1 and above (3.x) does not support Windows 95 long filenames.
The full commercial version of CrossDOS does support long filenames (still available at SoftHut store ?).
Try the powerful FAT95 or one of other FAT handler like the less known
MSD95 !
