It is quite simple, and the option was always open for anyone:

Get a licence for AmigaOS 4, and things will happen.

Hi Rogue, you get it finished and we will make sure someone gets a license...

Well, the "get it finished" part is the only part that falls into my field of expertise, hence my comment on IRC.

I heard before that the licence fee AInc wanted was certainly not acceptable, ergo no OS4 on Pegasos. Has this really changed so suddenly?

It doesn't really matter what you have heard, since if you didn't inquire directly at Amiga, the information is pretty irrelevant. Probably the rumour mill will have squezed the actual numbers in any desired direction.

I'm not saying your are wrong or right, because I don't know the details either.

I'm a bit worried about the dongle thingie - hope it will neither be a required change in the motherboard design (for a single OS?) nor a dongle occupying a whole USB slot.

(See also my reply to Kenny R)

No idea. My information is that there should be something that prevents/separates those boards that actually have a licence from thost that don't.

As to the Blizzard version - can we take it as a promise?

It's (a always) a promise that we'll try. We want a Blizzard version. The only real hold-up would be the issues I mentioned before - the non-standard hardware support. There has to be a certain amount of supported hardware - we're not going to sell it if it doesn't support at least a basic set of hardware to make it usable.

Slapping a sticker on it saying "does not support your IDE harddrive" isn't an option, really.

Are you/Hyperion's programmers concentrating all efforts on OS4? Or are you'all also continuing on games programming?

We do have a small crew of people that don't work on OS 4, and these are working on games ports (Linux and AmigaOS). That doesn't apply to any of the outside

Are you'all planning on doing any games programming for the Pegasos system?

We don't do anything for a specific hardware platform. We work on AmigaOS, Linux and Mac. If a platform runs any of these, chances are that it can run our games. I guess that Linux/PPC versions will also run on Pegasos hardware.

If/When Pegasos has an AmigaOS 4 licence, it will be able to run our stuff. We are not planning to do anything with MorphOS.

back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Hehe, sorry to disappoint you, but I decided to take this day off. I did have precious little sleep in the last 72 hours ;-)

P.S. Hi Rogue ...has anything really changed since our discussions in Cologne in December 2001?

I am trying to figure out what you mean, but I keep drawing a blank...

@bbrv

I'm not disputing that we had that talk...

I'm positively sure that Gerald (Carda) and Thomas (Knäbel) where not present...  We did talk with them at the show itself, later.

Are you speaking of the Zico spec here?

Beg your pardon? I was talking about the Blizzard / Amiga 1200 version here.

What exelent news!!!

Note that I merely said that it isn't ruled out, I didn't say there is anything affirmative about it. For the time being, only CSPPC, Blizzard and AmigaOne versions are planned. A Pegasos II version might  be available at some point, if someone gets a licence agreement.
