I installed SP2, everything went fine, but upon reboot I got the message 'Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close".
Happened on every boot. Then all I had was my lovely backdrop to look at, couldn't do anything. I had to go in via the Task manager and RUN the add/remove programs, because I couldn't even relaunch explorer from there.
I don't have as much patience with the PC as with the Amiga, so I ditched SP2.

That could be what happened to me. I have an OEM install of XP Pro, but it is on a custom machine, not HP or Compa*.
After I installed SP2 winblows explorer refused to run. At least I have not suffered a complete disaster like others have.
I think I'll wait a while for an updated version.
