Hey good work Ed,
I am in a similar situation setting up an A4000/040 I bought off eBay (I pulled my A500 out of the cupboard but honestly it just wasn't as good as I remembered except for the games). The A4000 is as good as I remember the A500 so I'm happy!!!
I've completely blown the budget for this retro revival, including an A600 (yet to arrive) for my girlfriend so she can play pinball and I can start resurecting the uber amiga!
I started with the k/s 1.2 A500 and it was in use (adding enhanced chip memory, denise, and a harddrive/ram expansion) until the age of Pentium 100MHz+ and Windows95 in which case I sold out to finish high school. After finishing my degrees, I am remembering fondly my Amiga days and trying to return to my roots but I guess the hardware is too expensive to take any further for now.
Anyway Ed, sorry to jump on your bandwagon but I read your post and thought, yeah, these guys deserve congrats, particularly Wayne, for keeping the flame alive whilst I went and finished uni!
Mr Escher
PS anyone had any experience with amigastuff.co.uk? they haven't sent my 60 pound scandoubler or returned my emails... Might have to get some rellies in the UK to hassle them...
PPS I read the other day that kickstart 1.2 is very rare - anyone want it for the cost of postage? can probably find the chip and the floppies and honestly I have no need for it.
