;-) I haven't tried 80 pins, but 18 Gigabyte 68 pin SCSI drives work just fine on my CyberStorm's built-in SCSI controller.

As for hot-swapping the drive, I believe that this is a feature that must be supported by the controller, as well as the drive, so it isn't recommended on an older 50 pin controller.

Mind you, I have done it on occasion.  When a drive was so far gone that the 'miggy wouldn't boot with it connected, I'd connect it after booting, then mount it and use HDToolbox or similar to work on it and fix the problem.  It's definitely not something you want to do on a regular basis, though.
