A4000 help!
« on: June 13, 2004, 02:01:46 AM »
Hi,

I've just opened up the 4000 I just bought, after getting paranoid hearing some peoples batteries have corroded and killed their Amiga's! I've got a Blue battery in mine, it says: Ni/Cd 3/v 60R 3.6V etc. Is this the one I want? I'm not sure if its new or not, but it looks like there's a bit of powder on the side of it. Can i just replace this by pulling it out and replacing it? If so do I want the same type? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers  :-)

Thanks for the ideas guys, I might take the battery out as I wouldn't know where to begin unsoldering from the other side!  :-o Could I just snap it off on the motherboard as it feels pretty loose? If I do this, then it should be fine until I eventually get it done properly, right?

Cheers,
jb

Ok, I've had a closer look at the battery and I've taken a picture but not sure where to upload it to, but anyway, it looks like the battery is being held in by an "arm" on each end. It looks as if the battery could be pulled up and out and replaced, but they seem to be attached, and rather flimsy, so I don't want to cut them if I don't have to..
