It might not have anything to do with the removal of the keyboard, but simply the capacitors failing. I have gone through a few old A600s. They seem fine and boot up when I first plug them in, then I switch them off and mess around with cables or something, switch it back on and get nothing but a black screen and a Caps Lock light. It seems to be a very common problem with A600s in the last couple of years, those old capacitors are all failing these days.

There's a chance it might start working if you simply leave it turned on for a while on the black screen.

No fuses, it's all those little round, silver electrolytic capacitors all over the board. If you're not handy with a soldering iron yourself, you can send the motherboard to one of the Amiga repairers who usually offer an Amiga capacitor replacement service.

I know how you feel, I get temporarily excited that I have just got a working A600 but it doesn't last long.

It's best to get them repaired sooner rather than later though, the acid inside the capacitors will eventually leak out and begin damaging the motherboard and surrounding components.
