Assuming for argument sake you did manage to upgrade the 68k to 68060 and squeeze 50 Mhz out of the 68060. You are still stuck with a very weak PPC card. Let us say you managed to squeeze an upgrade to that for a decent 250 Mhz maximum...though I think 200 Mhz seems a more logical squeeze. Wouldn't you be end up spending a fortune upgrading and hacking this card doubling the price of already an expensive card to match that of the top of the line already PPC card for A1200 that goes to 350 Mhz with 68060 @ 50 Mhz in them? I mean the question goes...is it even worth hacking through the card and you still will be stuck with severe bottleneck that comes with THIS type of card.
I think I agree completely with the rest of the community that one should skip A1200 PPC and sticked with either a powerful Apollo or Blizzard card.
Top of the line Blizzard card is 380Mhz+ with very high speed memory access. High speed memory access alone changes the way blizzard card performs even at a low 270Mhz. Bvision performance has also increased due to modification where the PCI bus is clocked from min 37.5Mhz to 41.5Mhz.
For the first time I am now going to revealed the benchmarks for PCI bus clocked at AGP speed.
ragemem shows 8/26. This is preliminary and sets a new world record, but its expected to get quicker. The benchmarks may not seem impressive but the test was done with OS4.1 update 5 1024x768 32bit screemode.
