Now given the outstanding design of this little toy I hate to complain about processor specs... But I am having a little difficulty fathoming the reason behind using a 603e core, rather than a 604e.

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

I guess you need to ask Freescale. My guess is that no 604 core could be get to run at 1W. Also, something higher spec would run hotter (possibly requiring heatsink + fan) and be more expensive. Finally, I think 603 was the "base design" which many other processor lines forked from, while 604 was more of a dead end.

Yeah, given it's meant as an embeded device, I can see how you'd want it to run without additional cooling. Guess people don't want DVRs or whatever with cooling fans

Hey, it's cheap, in mass production, and powerful enough to run OS4... If we all get behind it.

It's time.
