Did you boot from the AdSCSI installer disk?
Simple question that everyone else over looked?

Assuming a stock A2000, you can add only 8 megs MAX of additional RAM via a Zorro slot card. If you were to pickup an accelerator (68020 x 14 or better), any RAM on that card is additional.

As this is a very old 68000, what revision motherboard is it. Anything less than rev 6.0 would be a waste of time above 2.1 and an 68020. The rev # is on the board, below the power light area.
