The 1990 models are not listed in
this 15Khz compatible monitors DB but NEC units show good compatibility. I have a 71V variant and works fine.
About the clipped screen, I've never found a LCD capable of displaying the full picture of machines like X68000 (and moreover the LCD monitors don't have a way to resize both XY dimensions); but never found a problem with Commodore machines, all of them show the full picture.
Usually, the only problem comes when you use the Hi-res laced modes, most models will give you crappy quality. I've ended using a modded A520 to get the best quality, sacrificing some sharpness and getting picture stability instead.
