Building A1200 tower - need parts...all of them...
« on: December 20, 2003, 02:32:33 AM »
It was not hard to find a new Escom A1200 still being sold a little over 2 years ago when I get it in my head to put together a tower A1200.  I grabbed that and then got a WinnerTower from SoftHut.  I then got a Blizzard A1260 + SCSI (new) and FlickerMasterT (new) from Vesalia.de in Germany.  Quick work.  Had the tower done quickly:

I even wrote an instruction translation

...well I foolishly sold it.  Well...I sold it to get an iBook 700 running OS X and I do enjoy the iBook (typing on it now) but want to rebuild the whole thing now - just like it was.

Can I get any of these parts new anymore?  I know new does not matter so much, but I have this thing about new hardware smell.  Please advise.

Oh - and the main reason I want this machine is to run Amiga AGA demos as kickass as possible, while messing about with the OS a little as well.  So...I am not interested in PPC accelerator solutions - the A1260 + SCSI addon suited me quite ideally.  What a fool I was to sell.  Thanks.

Actually, it is Vesalia where I purchased a Blizzard A1260 + SCSI module and an internal FlickerMasterT.  I got the A1200 itself elsewhere.  Would Vesalia sell NTSC US capable A1200's new?  Any tower they sell - would it be the same as Soft Hut's "Power Tower" which is actually a "Winner Tower" - well, it was when I ordered one from them a few years ago.

I e-mailed Vesalia yesterday asking if they had the two items I mentioned above (no longer listed on their site, these 2-3 years since I ordered least) but got no response as yet.  They only list PPC accelerators - but I care not for such a thing.

Where can I get a new A1260 other than SoftHut?

ElBox stopped making the Winner Tower?  Will I still be able to add a PCI slot board down the road or are they going to be hard to find to fit in the Winner Tower?  If I want to tower my A1200 right now and later may want to add PCI capability - what is the wise tower choice today?

Thanks.
