Opening an Amiga for the first time!
« on: August 04, 2016, 10:55:23 AM »
An A600 that is :-)

So I have a replacement A600 that looks to have never been opened!

Looks to have no hard disk and version 2.something kickstart, so it'll be getting :

A604n
Indivision ECS
Subway USB
Card Flash IDE thingy
Vampire2 (Black) that I found laying around ;-)

If it all looks good after that I'll have the modulator removed, the HDMI/VGA run neatly out (somehow) and the USB ports also run neatly to the back.

Finally! There's someone else out there who ISN'T going to replace the original ROM chip to 3.1! I praise you sir! :)

Unless that card flash thingy replaces it? boo!!!

Nice Amiga BTW. ;)

Weeelllllll ... the Vampire has 3.1 built in ..... ;-)

Its not possible to use Indivision ECS with Vampire2.

Pffft, let's debunk that idea! :-)

See attached picture ...

A quick update photo.

Done so far :

Vampire2 ... oooh soon fast and soo much memory to play with!!!!!
A604 memory expansion with RTC
IndivisionECS piggybacking the A604
SubwayUSB also connected to the A604
16GB CardFlash on the IDE connector
KS3.1 ROM ... though it'll be coming straight back out again now that I'm happy the Vampire2 has that covered.
AmigaOS 3.9 BB1 installed
802.11b wifi in the PCMCIA slot

Todo :

Remove TV modulator
Re-cap the motherboard
Work out how to elegantly run the HDMI port, VGA port and USB ports.
Work out how to get some air flowing in there

will the power supply keep up?

That's a good point ... wonder how to measure how much the A600 is taking from the 12v and 5v lines ?
