IDEfix97 limits my HD size to 128GB. How can I fix?

How can I fix my IDEfix97?

According to Thomas' Awesome Hard Drive FAQ
my IDEfix97 is broken and won't let me use my 2TB drives in my Amiga :(

Is there any way to fix this problem?

I want to be able to plug in a 2TB drive and basically make 20 different 100GB PFS3 partitions.  + a few small boot partitions at the start.  I know that is a lot of partitions but PFS3 has a silly 104GB limit and I can't wait for Piru to cook up PFS4 :)

stupid question perhaps... but is there really enough Amiga OS/Software to fill 2T ??

Tom UK

Sure is.

For example, I donno how big Recorded Amiga Games site is but I would just assume they have 1TB of videos there.

I assume there are at least 20TB of Amiga videos on YouTube.

If I fully uncompressed all the level datas for Total Chaos AGA it would be 1844674407370.9551616 TB (Chaos Compression Algorithm FTW!)

If you can't come up with at least 2TB of Amiga stuff then you just aren't trying :D

I wonder why you need to call things broken or silly. Do you really think you get accurate help if you insult other people's hard work?

My apologies sir.  I did not mean to insult anyone or their work.

It was just funny to me (ironic) that I was asking for "how to fix my IDEfix".  If I need to fix something then logically it must be broken :D  See, its just a joke :)  I am not trying to be rude.  It just really struck me as ironic.  I know I didn't word it very well.  I lack Franko's talent for being silly and funny and I lack that other guy's (can't remember his name but he knows who he is... CommodoreJohn maybe?) writing skillz.  Anyway I am sorry and I hope we can still be friends as I really respect your work a lot.  You are one of my absolute most favoritest people in the Amigaforumverse.  Right up there with Piru and Olsen and Cobra and Yabba.

As to the "silly" comment, I thought I was pretty clear on that one that I was poking fun at the completely logical and prevalent limit of 104 that we have all come up against when writing software :D    Its just a combination joke + motivation to get Piru to make a PFS4 with 307.6 GB partitions :)

The whole of Aminet has "recently crossed the 30 GB barrier" (Quote from Aminet). Puts things into perspective a bit.
Then there's probably 5GB of games (commercial and PD).

You are thinking way to small my friend.  I had 5GB of Amiga software (games + busines + art + textures + fonts + sounds + music) by around 1993 and I certainly did not have everything made.

Today I have 32GB just of Amiga CD gamez and I don't have all of them.

Everything else that exists besides probably takes it up to 50GB at most.

I have around 8GB of Amiga fonts.

I have something like 700GB of gfx and sounds and we constantly make more.

With 2TB you could store a lot of digital music, or photo's. He doesn't necessarily want to strictly store Amiga stuff. He could want to store all of his digital camera photo's. That would be a good idea, as I'd personally trust my data on an Amiga more than any other computer.

You make a great point!

But why would digital music and photos not count as Amiga stuff?  Commodore machines practically invented digital music and digital photos.

The first digital music I ever heard that didn't hurt my ears was on the C64.  The Entertainer Demo, Frogger, Frantic Freddie,  etc.  The first digital photo I ever saw that looked like a digital photo was an Amiga 500 showing the NewTek Demo Reel 1 and 2 with Laura Longfellow, Kiki Stockhammer and the Ragu Spaghetti Sauce bottle.  Do you not remember any of this?

Well depends on how you look at it, the latest Amiga CD tosec is 234GB large when compressed, the Amiga cd coverdisk tosec is 103GB compressed, the Amiga CD Compilations tosec is 100GB etc.
I have Amiga related stuff filling 2x 2TB drives containing all Amiga related I can get my hands on from software, games (including cracked software and original), scans of manuals, boxarts, schematics etc, TV commercials, magazines, music etc the list is long.

Woaw!  I love collecting that kind of stuff.  I have some but not nearly enough.

Tell your woman to prepare the guest room cuz I'm coming for a visit with my 2 brand new empty 2TB drives :D
