Maybe I don't understand your question, but you can mount smbfs shares the "Amiga way" with SMBmounter, can't you

I do however start to loose track of all the smbfs versions (also see here:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=86198&highlight=smbfs).
- There's supposed a new one that is very buggy, only allows you to read from the share, not write to it (1.74).
- The old version you're talking about, slow, single threaded
- The 1.102 version you now mention (some report writing errors here too)
- 1.111 no idea whether this works
I have a config working but I am not sure about the writing to the NAS share. My NAS needs an update (Synology DSM 6.1) and SMB is updated to 4.4 then. So I guess I'll have to verify everything soon anyway, maybe the newer SMB version on the NAS breaks everything again
