I used a side cutter and cut out my battery, then desoldered the brackets. I then soldered two wires to the motherboard, where the old battery mounted, and connected a 3.6V cordless phone battery with a plug and socket so that it can be unplugged and replaced when necessary. No more leaky battery on the motherboard!
