It's far easier to just install the NewIcons package which can be found on Aminet. As far as I know you also need the newest Installer, and something called GTLayout.
NewIcons v4.6GTLayoutInstaller v43.3This will make your Workbench look so much nicer than the original Workbench. But just be aware that huge and nice looking icons takes a lot of your chip mem.
