You shouldnt have any trouble playing mp3s on a 500mhz pc unless youre using some like windows media player under windows 95 and 8megs of ram
My parents 200mhz Winchip pc (think as bad as early cyrix cpus) plays mp3s fine under winamp2 even with word etc running.
