Possible damaged monitor
« on: July 12, 2014, 01:48:42 AM »
Hi again. I recieved my Amiga 500 today, but when I opened it, I discovered part of the case broke, and I'm assuming it was from shipping. Anyway, it turns on, and I'm assuming it works because the power light turns on, and when I put in the kickstart, the floppy light flashes for a little bit.

The issue I'm having is with the monitor. The monitor doesn't seem to have any external damage at all, maybe a tiny bump on the top, but the problem is the display it self. The monitor turns on, but I don't see a power led or picture. The guy I purchased the monitor from, on eBay, noted that you had to hit the power button several times to turn it on or off, but I'm not getting anything. I hear it turn on, but I see no picture or power led.

What should I do to get the monitor to work, or is it broken?

I found out something interesting. When I have both the Amiga and the monitor turned on, I see a faint red light from the monitor power led.

Edit: I went onto AmigaKit and bought a Amiga RGB to SVGA/*multiscan video adapter (will try to use another CRT monitor). Hopefully, it should work, if not, I'll return both the A500 and Monitor.

Once I get the VGA cable, could I connect to a LCD monitor (for quick testing), or will it only work on SVGA CRT monitors?

I made a claim against UPS and bought another monitor. Hopefully, it should work. Could it be the cable it self?

I bought a working 1084 monitor, so I should be fine, unless something bad happens during the shipping process, again.
