E-Uae on Linux Netbook

Hi All
Have got some time off work and thought I'd finally crack getting a netbook to boot off USb stick into Amiga Workbench. I was considering Amiga Forever when I found the ive version of Amigasys. This has installed ok and after a bit of fiddling with the config file I can get it to boot directly to Workbench and run stuff. Problem is that the speed is all over the place - sometime it's incredibly quick and other times it's as slow as a standard A1200! have played around with memory settings and Jit seetings but nothing seems to make a difference.
Have also tried on a high power laptop and get the same issues.
Any suggestions as it works (almost) but I do need the speed..

Thanks that's really helpful - will have a play later. I do wonder if e-uae struggles generally. Have never had similar issues with winuae on the same system. Using Ab3d2 as my benchmark.

Forgot to mention that read somewhere that if you specify more than 32mb z3 memory then this slows the emulation down.

I thought FS-UAE didn't do JIT which slowed it down?
