Please note our advertising partners

On the Amiga Future webpage we offer you a huge free content all about the Amiga.

Because the Amiga Future is a non-profit project, the Amiga Future homepage has to finance itself completely.
The homepage, which is currently around 30 GB in size, is funded without exception through advertising, donations and our own private funds.
Programming new extensions, databases or features really costs a lot.

At the top of the webpage there are several banners from our advertising partners. We also have advertising in the left navigation bar.

Through these web partners we finance the server and programming costs of the Amiga Future webpage.

We would be happy if you pay attention to this advertising and that will ensure that there is still enough advertising on the Amiga Future webpage to finance it adequately.

****************************************************
The Amiga Future is in German and English.
As a result, articles have to be translated into each respective language.
We have sufficient translators for the Amiga Future.
However, when it comes to submitting articles, many text files need to be translated in a relatively short time. This is our famous bottleneck that regularly creates undue and unwelcome stress to all.
So, we want to permanently solve this problem.

To alleviate this problem, we are looking for more translators to bolster support for our printed issues of Amiga Future.

Of course there's so MUCH more actually in the magazine.

Needless to say you often get other versions of software, often what was commercially available, as well as some of the latest try-outs or freely released software applications and games for, hopefully, all of the Amiga type Operating systems, so that's Amiga 'Classic', OS4, MorphOS, and AROS, including some PD software for these systems, all on the Readers' cover CD.

Amiga Future magazine index update

The Amiga Future magazine index has been updated and now also contains the index of the latest edition of the Amiga Future.

The magazine index contains all article titles from the Amiga Future editions.
This makes it easier to find a specific article in over 20 years of Amiga Future.

In addition, the magazine index can also be used with the AFA Viewer for AmigaOS 4.

Firstly, to find out in which edition an article was published.

But you can also read the articles published on AFA-DVD directly with the AFA Viewer.
To do this, the AFA-DVD must be in the drive or installed on the hard disk.

It is also possible to partially access the files directly from the Amiga Future homepage.

The cheats database of Amiga Future is updated weekly by David Jahn, even if at first sight that is not immediately apparent.

The cheat database on the Amiga Future webpage is probably the largest German collection for the Amiga.

This doesn't just cover cheats, as many solutions, tips and tricks, as well as Freezer addresses can be found in the collection.

Don't forget you can find more than 3400 Games Cheats and solutions in the database, and there are always more being added.

The database is currently entirely in German, but if we receive enough donations for the website, we have plans to integrate a full-blown online database, which will also be available in English.

Amiga Gaming / Air Mail (Amiga Game)
« Last post by jojo073 on August 01, 2021, 12:37:34 PM »

Today I want to talk about Air mail, this game is an authentic exotic adventure. You are driving a pilot who has crashed in a remote area of central Africa. Your mission is to escape from the wild environment and be able to return home. But everything around you wants to kill you. indigenous, traps, piranhas, lions, gorillas and especially the jungle that will make you get lost and end up in the stomach of some wild animal.

The game takes place over several phases, you have to collect a series of packages and letters that have been scattered on the ground before crashing. If you can rescue the mail, you will be a true hero when you return home.
The game has 3 different endings depending on your patience at a certain moment you can go home earlier and advance the adventure without collecting all the mail.

But only a true hero will be able to enter the depths of the territory to get all the mail and thus see the end of the game more difficult to achieve.

This game was designed a few years ago, but was abandoned by the original team. After a few years, it seemed to me that it deserved an opportunity to see the light, so I looked for the original designs and I began to develop the game with everything that I thought it should have ...

The result is a fun game of adventure, search and survival, good music by Ricardo Vieira.

This game has a physical edition available, it includes a card half eaten by a wild animal, haha
If you want to try this game you can ask me for the .ADF at jojocreativo@gmail.com (ADF disk image at no cost)

As usual, you can download it for free from https://www.retream.com/MeMO

* Reworked controls (see manual).
* Added controls information to pause screen.
* Added cards numbers to the back of face down cards (which helps with matching cards).
* Straightened cards corners, to match better the overall sharp look of graphics.
* Fixed bug that caused the EXTRA JOYSTICK option to be highlighted shortly after returning from the "about" screen.
* Made several optimizations.
* Adapted to and built against latest custom framework (which makes startup and cleanup more robust and has a couple of bugfixes).

Amiga OS / Re: High(er) res workbench in winUAE and OS 3.2. how to achieve?
« Last post by Mikhail on August 01, 2021, 11:05:34 AM »
P96 v2, v3 and CGX v3 and v4 should all work with AmigaOS 3.2.
The other question is how some of the recent additions work, and may require some of the newer OS components to function correctly not yet publicly available, also not all rtg hardware fully supports this.
On the other hand, basic display has worked and still works just fine with real hardware or under emulation.

Amiga Events / AmiGameJam 2021 - The annual Amiga game-making competition
« Last post by Cammy on August 01, 2021, 04:28:39 AM »

Dear Amiga friends and fellow retro enthusiasts, I would like to announce that the "AmiGameJam 2021" has begun!

AmiGameJam 2021 is the annual game development competition for the Amiga (originally the Festive Amiga Game-Making Competition).
This year the theme is "Ports", where all competitors will have six months, starting today, to port any game they like to the Amiga platform.
Each competitor will have the opportunity to win extraordinary prizes!

Competitors can use any means possible to code or build the game, that includes using game creation software kits (such as Red Pill, Scorpion Engine or GRAC).
This contest is open to two separate categories; Classic Amiga and the Next-Gen Amiga models (Aros, MorphOS and AmigaOS4).
A First Prize will be awarded to the winner of each category and, in addition, Second and Third Prizes will be awarded in the Classic category. In the case of games made specifically for the Vampire then it should be submitted be under the Next-Gen category.

To ensure the competition is fair for everyone, the work performed for the game should begin after this date.
Entries should be submitted by the 1st of February 2022 and the judging will begin after that. The winners will be announced on a very special awards show live-stream hosted by Amiga Bill, starring three celebrity judges and appearances from other special guests in the Amiga and retro community!

Introducing this years' amazing judges for the contest:
Judge #1 - The fantastic RJ Mical (creator of Amiga's Graphical User Interface)
Judge #2 - Hi7ch (an amazing variety streamer on Twitch who plays Amiga and retro games).
Judge #3 - TBA
We are all very grateful to have them onboard!

Please let me know if you are able to help out with donating prizes or money towards the prize pool!

Great thanks to Paul Kitching for his excellent logo! :)

Amiga OS -- Development / Re: Amiga OS 3.2 released
« Last post by Minuous on July 31, 2021, 11:14:57 PM »
You are right, this behaviour hasn't changed for 3.2. Hidden WB windows are not openable via ARexx or similar methods.

I don't really see a problem with that though: if you wanted to use look at those devices/volumes in WB then you would not tell WB you wanted them hidden in the first place, logically.

Amiga OS -- Development / Re: Amiga OS 3.2 released

This is Amiga and Workbench, there are no good reason to clutter the screen with tons of windows in the first place, at least I never have this problem - bringing root to top is just a hotkey away. It would make more sense if it was more like macOS and the Workbench menu was _always_ there, even when other programs’ windows were active, but it’s not.

I can’t speak for others, but I never hide volumes, I only hide devices. For example on MIST I have both a fat95 SD0: and cachecdfs CD0: both scsi.device unit 1, and both mounted at boot - I use GhostBuster and its WB prefs and set both DS0: and CD0: to hide if not valid filesystem. Of course this feature is not in OS 3.2 because then users cannot format partitions, says ThoR. However, if I could hide ALL volumes and instead use arexx to open them rather than double clicking volume icons - I would! To be more precise, I would make icons on the desktop that would replace the volume icons, and havr them do much more than just open the drawers. Reminds me, on my wishlist is “triggers” for double clicking on workbench background and window backgrounds, with and without qualifiers, so one can configure double click on background to launch an arexx script, shift + double click to run a command etc. Same for windows, but with path to window being passed on as an argument.

The way Workbench works on 3.1.4.1, a hidden volume can not be opened AT ALL as a wb window, neither can any subdrawer, and left out icons are of course also not there. From previous comment by Minuous, this MAY have changed in OS 3.2, but I know better than to trust that :)

I really don’t see the point of the “open volume” unless it can be used for “hidden” volumes.

What if you have many windows opened that obstruct the volume icons ?
Then it is easier to open that volume via menu, so having an option is better than not.
As for the hidden volumes, that could be an extra option.
The must be a good reason why the volumes are hidden in the first place.
