Sadly I missed the whole C64. My dad bought us a Spectrum 48k.
Then we moved on to Atari STFM and then to Amiga.

I do own The C64. Just so I can play Short Circuit and a few others. As after hearing SID music and playing some of the games, I'm hooked on SID tunes.

Amiga wasn't my first, but it's the first computer that you can sort of use for something other than playing games. And the novelty of playing 80s and early 90s games wear off after 5 minutes for me at least. I have various emulated amiga systems, some are faithful recreations of era specific setups, like whatever was possible at the time I owned one myself, and some are testing what can be achieved with whatever progress have been made since. It's just fun to fiddle around with. But no matter how cool the games were at the time, I just find them to be boring now compared to new games  :P

I would buy a "new" 100% compatible Amiga 1200, since maintaining old ones is a chore, but I never had a C64 so not really into that.

I think it’s more down to what was your first computer at the time. Those who had the Amiga first would argue that the C64 is not what they would want.
My first Commodore machine was the VIC-20. I never got to own a C64, the next machine after the VIC was the Speccy 16k, the. The A500 Amiga.
Only fairly recently I took the plunge bought a C128D, which now I see what the fuss was about.

Would I buy one of the new C64s? More likely not.

As for the debate about, “Well Amiga and Commodore are separate”. You can argue, that without Commodore buying the Amiga brand and distributing etc… Would it have been as popular?

Uhoh. Might be worth backing up the whole SD card before carrying out any major changes, then writing it back should it goes wrong!

I'm staying away from Shapeshifter for a while anyway

Exactly. I reinstalled all of my custom systems again after messing it up and backed up the whole sd card to an image :)
If you don't mind, please share some screenshots of your AmiBench system + what you use/install on it. I am in a process of making it as usable as possible so I need ideas :D Thanx

Back on topic...I wasn't aware there was quite the pent up demand for C64s as they are the most numerous single model of computer ever manufactured! Since only 5 million Amigas of all flavours were manufactured by comparison, I would hope that the new C= would in some way help Cloanto and/or RGL cut through the red tape to get THEA1200 launched soon! I can't see any other immediate benefit to Amiga side of things unless they want to buy out Hyperion too?!  ;D

@BozzerBigD   Thanks for bringing this back on Topic.

All I would say is I’m happy to see the Commodore brand back in my lifetime. 🤞🏻 Christian “Perifractic” Simpson gets the backing he needs to take this forward.

Yup, those first three did the trick!

Just need to make a note/backup what I've rolled out prior to borking the system so after that refresh I can re-install everything.

I tried using Backup and Restore to backup AmiBench and V46 and other partitions but when I restore it destroys everything icluding inbuilt games, custom systems, drawbridge and all applications that came with A600GS. I did it two times and I am not using it any more :) Stay away from this

Is that a new top as well?

Grill does looke cool.

The top is original, I just put some chrome trimming to match the front db9 panel details :)
Also the grill does some job because you can feel the heat coming out of the back when the machine is being used
