>Truck

Perhaps a large Winnebago +Truck combo is more appropriate for "Fast, Mobile and Wireless" office for "the Officeless" Amiga Inc. :-)

Istaca

The Winnebago can also function as temporary house, because apparently someone (the creditors?) had repossesed Amiga Inc's office, and (god forbid) Mr Bill McEwen house! :-)

@asian1

Bill McEwen doesn't own Amiga Inc., some investors do.  I would suspect that Bill has other levels of seperation from Amiga should something bad happen.  I sincerely doubt that he is personally going to take a hit from any action/inaction of Amiga.

On the other side of the coin, Bill knows that if AmigaOS4 hits the shelves as a profit making product he can skim a bit more ;-)  They aren't in business to throw money in the four winds.... No matter how much it looks like such!    :-?  :getmad:  :-?

Targhan

It surprises me how often people forget that.

I don't think Bill & Company are idiots, or that they are out of money.  What is obvious to me is that they have commitments with other companies to deliver products and services, and have no time to further the old Amiga community.  Even if they want to tell us everything and give us OS5, they can't.

The reason why Amiga Inc. is silent is because their business plans have nothing to do with the old Amiga community.  That part of the business belongs to Hyperion, Eyetech, or anyone else willing to take the punishment.

I wish they would release ANY information about their new products, whether they are related to anything Amiga or not, but contractual agreements apparently prevent them from doing so.

That's why I've given up on the "old" Amigas and the AmigaOne.  I like Hyperion's work, but that will only serve people who are really into the old Amigas.  I've moved on and have no interest in upgrading my A1200.  I only want to see what DE has to offer, so I don't have to be shackled to Windows, anymore.

Well, I'm not impressed with DE, as it is very limited in it's scalability, it doesn't cover enough platforms to what it was intended to do, and nothing of any value has been done with it (yet).

I believe that Amiga Inc. is hurting for money; though, I would credit that more to the deplorable state of the economy than to stupidity.

Targhan

>Investors who own Amiga Inc.

The only remaining "official investor" is NetVentures from Netherland:

NetVentures & Amiga

Invisible Hands aka Kouri Capital (Dr Kouri + Soros) had gone bankrupt in May 2001.  CSK (owner of SEGA & Ravisent) had denied the rumor of investment in Amiga Inc. Head of SONY VC also denied the same matter.

All of investment advisors & banking group said:
"We won't touch Amiga Inc, even with the longest barge pole!"

Perhaps the new / future investor is .... MICROSOFT!

Privately owned company mate ...

iirc.. a few years ago they were contemplating something of that nature...

Bloody glad they are privately owned actually, coz if A.Inc ever do get on the "up &up" a certain M$ may well come "a sniffing around".  Buy it just to kill it/asset strip... etc.

I wonder if Amiga.inc has offices.

It looks like they are (not)doing the job from
their livingrooms.
Just my feeling. :-D

We all know what M$ does to it competition. But surely, M$ don't care or are not worried by a Company as small as Amiga Inc. Getting rid of Amiga Inc for them would be like us stepping on a little ant on purpose. Wait a minute. I sometimes step on ants on purpose. We're doomed ;-)

Seriously though, What I think could happen is that M$ would come along, get some of Amiga's great Idea's (not the AmigaOS stuff though even though this is a good idea) and label it as something M$ did/invented/created etc. The usual stuff.

>Not from Living Room

Perhaps from a sweat shop with illegal immigrants busy knitting Amiga T-Shirt?  :-)

Their office is vacated, phone + fax number cut.
The only available number is a cell phone (media / press only), direct to Mr Bill McEwen.

Perhaps the owner of their old office will put "For Lease" sign soon.

Nov. 2, 2002 Update

"The office is moving and we will have the new address, and contact information up in the next week. We needed to move into an area that is closer to the services and to the companies that we are working with."

It's the end of January, 3 months after the "next week" announcement and still NO OFFICE address!

>Closer to the companies - Mobile Team.

Apparently Mr Bill McEwen (former truck driver)  still cann't find the parking space for his team's mobile office (aka Minnie Winnebago + Truck combo)    :-)

Minnie

Perhaps his first question to the customer: "Do you have large parking space for a Winnebago?" :-)

I doubt that MS sees AInc as a competitor. AInc distributes games and provides a "compatibility layer" for devices running MS operating systems. Assuming that this stuff is commercially attractive, AInc is providing added value to MS products. If MS would be interested in the technology for themselves, I think they'd rather skip the middle man and go directly to the source and do what AInc does - license the stuff directly from Tao. Or just buy Tao.

Only thing M$ would gain is the Name.... Amiga is still (incorrectly) associated to great and innovative games and good gameplaying experience.  And that's something M$ don't have.  Yet?
