Amikey 1200 using sum 1200 missing key input
« on: October 12, 2026, 08:33:45 PM »
Hi,

Just bought and received a new Amigakit Amikey 1200. The idea is I will be using this with a powered USB hub and use my A1200 mechanical keyboard with the A1200 and also with a Amiga A4000 farm with a switch box.

So on connecting the Amikey 1200 to a sum 1200 adapter on the A1200 with a powered USB hub and most of the keys work. Except for the “DEL” and the 2 square bracket keys on the numeric keypad.

Anyone else tried this? Are there any fixes for this?

Cheers.

You said usb hub, not sum, ;).
Have no clue if that would ever work, 2 different firmwares.

I tried the Amikey to USB 1200 directly. But was getting hit and miss key presses. Then used a powered USB hub and then the 3 keys were missing.

Just had a look over on the A1200 sum firmware page, so will have a go with a firmware update.

Are there any fixes any firmware updates available for the Amikey A1200?

It works as intended. It was never ment to be used with a sum.
So what happens if used on a say a PC?

OK, now thinking, what are you trying to achieve?
Surely, if your connecting keyboard to amikey, then why are you using Amikey and sum at all. Surely your mechanical keyboard would connect through standard A1200 connector.

EDIT:- Will check on Firmware update.

Looking for an all in one solution, using the A1200 keyboard on a A1200 motherboard, but also a way to utilise the keyboard with a A4000D farm of 4, using a manual switch box. Obviously not at the same time.
