Telegram Amiga GUI alpha 0.0.1 released
« on: June 20, 2026, 12:51:50 PM »
Hi all,

I have released the first public GUI alpha of Telegram Amiga.

The project has moved from the previous console/TUI-only builds to a first Workbench-style GUI release. It is still alpha software, but the basic text-chat workflow is already usable: login/session reuse, chat list, conversation view and message sending.

This is a real MTProto Telegram user-client path, not the Bot API.

Release packages:

General releases page:
https://github.com/kaffeine1/telegram-amiga/releases

I also wrote a short release note with screenshots here:
https://androidlab.it/telegram-amiga-gui-alpha-001-amigaos-morphos-aros/

Important for testing/reporting: please do not post auth files, phone numbers, login codes, 2FA passwords, access hashes or private message text in public bug reports. Redacted screenshots and logs are perfect.

Feedback from real machines, emulators and different TCP/IP stacks is very welcome. Especially useful: OS version, hardware/emulator, CPU, network stack, release package tested, and whether login, chat list, history and sending work.

Thanks!

Awesome, thanx for the hard work on this application. The Amiga needs things like this.

This is fantastic! Thanks for the incredible work!

I tested this yesterday on an emulated Amiga 1200 with FS-UAE and it worked great.

Telegram Amiga alpha 0.0.4 is out. It is an MTProto Telegram client for AmigaOS 3.x, MorphOS, AmigaOS 4 and AROS.

Main changes:
• edit and delete your own messages from the GUI;
• near real-time read receipts;
• sync for outgoing messages sent from other devices;
• better timestamps using the Amiga system clock;
• refinements for 2FA, context menu and version handling.

Aminet downloads:
AmigaOS 3.x m68k: https://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/tgamiga.m68k-amigaos
MorphOS PPC: https://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/tgamiga.ppc-morphos
AmigaOS 4 PPC: https://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/tgamiga.ppc-amigaos
AROS i386: https://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/tgamiga.i386-aros
AROS x86_64: https://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/tgamiga.x86_64-aros

If you can test it on real hardware, emulation or NG systems, feedback is very welcome: platform, TCP stack, what works, what breaks and any reproducible crash. More testing means a better Amiga Telegram client.

I have released the new version of Telegram Amiga, 0.0.5.

This release brings several improvements: real avatars in the chat list, @ mention autocomplete in groups, optional own-screen mode (for now it requires manual configuration: in the Telegram Amiga drawer, edit data/telegram-gui-win.txt; the line must use the format width height x y own), remembered window position and size between sessions, a fix for the right-click freeze, cleaner handling of data/ and avatars/, and better preservation of newlines and lists in messages.

Full article with details and links to the GitHub/Aminet packages:

https://androidlab.it/en/telegram-amiga-alpha-005-avatars-mentions-own-screen-amigaos-morphos-aros/

As always, testing on real hardware or emulated setups is extremely valuable: bug reports, freezes, graphical issues, incompatibilities or any odd behaviour are very welcome. The more platforms and configurations we test, the more solid the client becomes.
