Hi from the UK
« on: February 04, 2025, 04:22:31 PM »
Hey - its been a long time since ive owned an Amiga (About 25 years). Last week i got hold of a family members A4000 which was unexpected to say the least...i knew about it, and asked a few times over the years if i could take ownership of it but fell on deaf ears until now. Its come in a full tower case "Ateo Concepts" from memory (im at work) but does come fully loaded. Cyberstorm 060/ppc, PicassoIV, IOBlix card and an AriadneII network card with the memory maxed out. The motherboard has suffered from the usual battery leakage damage. But, this morning i sent off the mainboard to be Re-Amiga'd along with the Cyberstorm to be recapped and the PicassoIV to be given a quick check as ive got no actual working hardware.

Once i get that back as ive not got the oem case i think my only option is to recase it...the Ateo case is way too big and these days the requirement for lots of HD's and cr rom and writers is a thing of the past so i plan to get a small desktop case or small midi case to retro fit the 4000 into....thats my initial plan anyway although ive got a couple of months to wait for the mainboard to come back though.!

Everything has changed so i plan to bring it into the present day with some flash storage and one of those go tek drives, its got 3.1 roms in it but i plan to get 3.2 but cannot remember for the life of me how the os will hang together on it its been so long since ive messed with one!

Welcome to the forum, and what a great Amiga you have inherited, the sort that many of us dream about.

Take a look at https://retro.directory/ too to see what clubs and events are in your area if you interested in meeting up with others.

Well, that's incomplete.  It doesn't list the Fresno Commodore User Group (established in 1981), The Other Group of Amigoids in San Jose (club established in 1992), and the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network in Northridge (club established in 2005).  I haven't checked the directory for Oregon and Washington state yet.

I just checked.  No mention made of the Portland Commodore User Group nor the Seattle Commodore Computer Club.
