Hi all,
Sorry but I just had to chime in about this, I just HATE the term "Miggy". I have been
using Amiga computers since 1988 and I have never for one second thought of my
"Amiga" computer as a "Miggy

Hey and I have to agree, it sounds like some thing  one would call a Rodent and not the beautiful Amiga.
Amiga 1200 E-Matrix 32 bit Fast-Ram 20 gb wd harddrive
Amiga 1200 Compact Flash CF IDE Back Plate Adapter

Hisoft promidi Interface
MP3 MAS player
Amiga 600
ACA620EC Accelerator Kipper/type
CF 4GB
C/F HD
 Pioneer CD/DVD
Hisoft promidi Interface

It could be worse (i.e. 'Speccy' :D)

But seriously, nicknames come about either as a convenience (like abbreviations/contractions) or as an endearment - I think it's nice that the Amiga is so fondly remembered/regarded by some that they call it 'Miggy' - C64's are referred to as 'bread-bins' and what do people call Atari ST's???

The fact that in 2015, soon to be 2016 we have various modern-ish OS choices and new hardware and software being developed is a testimony to how influential the 'Miggy's been in the lives and imaginations of users throughout the decades ;)

Just a name, I don't use it but people who use "miggy" tend to use it as a term of respect and love, for that reason alone I give it a pass.

I am Amiga user since 1985, and the first time I saw the "miggy" term used for Amiga computers was on users forums, and the first thing I think was "WTF?". Really? "Miggy", come on!.

I not agree about that nickname, but anyway, I suppose some people think they're using a"loving" way to call the Amiga computers.

I just call "The Amiga" or "the 500, 1200...". If I am writing something about any specific model, sometimes y write "A1200, A500, A2000...".
Amiga 1000, 500, 600, 2000, 1200, 4000...

C= VIC 20 / 64 /SX64/ 128

Atari 600XL (SIC Cartdridge)
Atari 800XL (SIO2SD unit)

Jay Miner`s Atari 2600 - Wood front -

I use it all the time. Not gonna stop, so Happy New Year! hehe

Seriously, nicknames for Elizabeth could be Eli, Liz or Beth. Miggy is like Lizzy. I use it affectionaly for an old friend. my Amiga(s).

I also reserve the right to call mine as I want to. Luckily she always obeys my commands although outcome is not always as wanted. She also thinks people should learn not to hate; it makes live so much more bearable - especially an Amigan live.

I hope there are no people who hate talk about computers in a feminine way ?
Trust me...                                              I know what I\'m doing
