Amidock Crashing at startup
« on: February 23, 2004, 02:51:53 AM »
Oksy I set up visual prefs and got power icons installed. I've had no problem untill today when I had restore help me make my WB look cool. For some reason amidock is crashing. If in put it in storage my system comes up, and if I click amidoc it crashes with software failure #8000000 A every time. Not only that, but I just noticed when I right click an icon and select information it also crashes! Something crazy is going on. It was working fine up to a few hours ago.

HELP!!!!

Hmm.. I had that problem some time ago, I didn“t use Power icon though. I have only one recommendation, use Snoopdos :-)

EDIT: I saw now that you have an A3K, maybe your ZIP-ram needs to be cleaned or just wiggled alittle. I remember that I have to do it once a month or I end up with similar problems as you do.

I'm thinking of just pulling ot my ZIP RAM completly. I dont need it since I have 128 on my CSPPC card.

PowerIcons has nothing to do with it I am sure. Something is causing the system to be unstable now since I messed with the setting in visual prefs and reaction. I just dont get whats causing it. I;ll see if snoop dos does anything for me.

Well started up and Snoop dos reports everything is fine, but the system still crashes when I right click and select information on an icon. this time Software Failure #80000004 it tells me. Other programs crash with simular errors too. Dont know what to do now at all. I'd hoped Snoop Dos would give some clue.

@Acill

Check your CS 040 and 060 libs, when I set up my CS-PPC card i had the same problem, It turned out to be a problem with the libs.

Good luck.

Me and Acill found the source of the problems, its reaction.
We modified the reaction prefs alittle yesterday, and today, all reaction based programs crash,  :lol:

We will try tomorrow to sort it out

Yup, It looks like its something in reaction. All I remember doing in the prefs though is adding a font in the two sections and checking the tick boxes. But it is only reaction stuff crashing and its allways the same two error numbers. #8000000A and a few times #80000004 what ever they are.
