The AmigaKit CF cards (with preinstalled software) are pretty much designed to be problem-free with the amiga, unless during shipping the heads got knocked out of alignment...

Those dang CF heads!

IDEFix when implemented, mostly corrects for the lack of ATAPI commands on the IDE, so I would guess you have to get enough of a boot to run it if it is truly needed;

Xactly! I just need to get far enough in a bootup to take control of this... work of art!

Quote from: danbeaver;785926
...however an error on one "install" vs another can be due to missing libraries loaded at startup.

"Install"... I'm finding that "versions" are hazardous...

Quote from: danbeaver;785926
Starting with no Startup-Sequence would let you run both the IDEFix and SetPatch (the latter of which can cause big issues with booting).

I could never figure out what to do after a "No Startup Sequence" boot...

I believe that "The Answer is Out There!"

You are correct..... I'm gonna start another post now for further fun!

Trying to install an OS on a Buddha/TrueIDE naked ain't gonna happen...

I've been trying to get my SCSI HDD to boot from a GVP +8 with the Buddha/TruIDE also installed - 'cause I gotta somehow see this puppy in HDToolBox, right?

OK, so this is mostly all a big boot timing problem.

I eliminated the "Software Failure message" that the TrueIDE CF card was causing at boot sequence by getting the old SCSI HDD to boot faster than that CF card! I did that by putting my Blizz 060 back in (yea I switched some libs first) 'cause it hauls a$$.

Well that worked great! The TrueIDE CF card partitions show up in WB. I can run HDToolBox and see the following drive: TEAC - USB - HS-CF Card 4.00. So I know I'm staring that CF card right in the face! I can also edit the drive parameters.

Now, here's the tricky part...  How do I bleeeeeeping get OS3.9 on that CF card from here? I have complete command over this device at this point - I think. SCSI CD drive is working perfect. This is where I usually duff things.

How would peeps get this done without a really fast SCSI controller?

In my left smock pocket on CD at the moment... Hmmmm, I need help prepping this card first...

BTW, the 2 FFS formated CF cards (mentioned earlier) that AmigaKit suppied with the TrueIDE continue to bring the A2000 to it's knees - no activity on the SCSI bus, no floppy activity, no ROM boot screen, no nuthin! Whaz up with that? The SFS card that was supplied by AmigaKit with a regular 'ole CF adapter reads - no problem. (NOT picking on you AmigaKit!) I just tried an old fat32 Transcend and I can see that too. Be a good practice card... :laugh1:

You have the 3.9 Emergency floppy already?  You'll want to make one of those.

Just a quick thought from skimming, you sure the Buddha & TrueIDE are fully compatible with your modded accelerator?

Ah! This is where an install gets a bit complicated with the Blizz! I created that disk on the Miggy 1200 a couple of weeks ago as you suggested. I tested a few times in various install scenarios and the process just chokes on the startup-sequence 'cause of different hardware. So, I need to create an OS3.9 ERD for this install somehow. I can't back the Blizz out now - it's the only thing that's savin my a$$ at this point! The only thing to remember about the Blizz is that it has it's own Blizz drivers!! I can only see drives on the BlizzBaby with the Blizz SCSI utility. No biggie though! This all took awhile to figure out...I'm new to the 060 club... lol

When I put the OS3.9 CD in, it shows up on WB, no prob. But, I can't just install 3.9 to that CF straight way, can I? I must start with OS3.1... right? See? Told ya this is where I duff it!

Should I create an OS3.9 ERD now on this machine? How dumb am I... probably! Problem is, the current booted SCSI HDD to WB has OS2.1 on it.... I can't get the "create ERD program" to start. How do I make the ERD from here? HAHAHAHA.... can you feel my tension?

Yes, you can install straight from the CD.  The ERD is only to "get you to that point" if you know what I mean?

Unrelated side note, did you get your 4.1 FE yet?   I was amused to see that it comes with it's own ERD.  Should throw it in my 2000 and see how fast it chokes on it, lol.  ;)

I gotta stop asking Q's before I read... there's a "Install 3.9 full on empty hard drive"...  DOH! Hold on.....  HAHAHA, then it tells me to make an ERD....  hold on again.......

Come back when you've had some coffee!  :roflmao:

RIGHT! OK, the ERD boots and I get a funky, yet beautiful, ERD backdrop... Seriously I have no idea what to do now... I've never been in this galaxy quadrant. I just fired up HDToolBox and I see: 2060scsi.device which is my Blizz, and buddha_atapi.device and scsi.device. Don't I have to prep this CF card at some point? I've been at this since noon EDT... I'm tired! TO BE CONTINUTED! Thanks for all the help today guys! This is a great learning experience. OS3.9 on an A2000 is gonna rock! I still have to add OS3.1 to a second dual boot CF for the Toaster side! HA! This is great!

PS - I still wanna know how Brian got his to work.... he's not talkin!

You can go directly from CD to CF if you have a WB screen that shows both.  You will need the CF partition bootable though.
