Well it looks like attaching the jumper did not help. In fact, with the jump attached, neither a500 would boot at all...

ARGH. So sad I can't make this work! I tried new ram, reseating chips, cleaning connections.... I EVEN READ THE MANUAL! no go.

I'll try and get email a picture to you of what the Mtec 020 board looks like installed in my Amiga 1000. It does NOT have an HD controller on it though, and it uses the 68000 cpu socket to install. Not sure if this is a problem not. I also have a custom One-Off 90 degree Amiga 500T expansion adapter around here (modified from a Slingshot type product by me).  We could go to PM with this.

Jeff, I could really use the adapter and the mtec.

It appears that with some work, I can get to the 68000 socket without ripping this whole beast apart.  Then I think (hope) I could get an install an add ide and be good to go...

This would probably be the most economical way to get her going. The machine has 3.1 roms already. I'll need some black blank plastic slots because the scsi tape drive and cdrom will be removed.

Indivision ecs would be nice eventually, so I could use a black flat screen with this...

Anybody need a scsi tape drive, hard drive and cdrom?

I will pm you...

PM received and replied to. I have my hands on the Mtec board, looking for my old A500T stuff. I'll send it all along to you in the box. I'm not going to build another at this point in the game. We'll get yours running instead.  I can probably supply another A500MB too if needed.

Its now stripped down and ready for rebuild. Its alive. On life support, but alive...

All scsi bits removed. Basically, it is just like a stock amiga 500 running with only one floppy except for the nice tower and nice amiga cdtv keyboard, which is a bit more comfortable to me than a stock 500 wedge...

There's tons of room in the tower for expansion.

The rebuild begins soon.

Facebook link to image doesn't work here?

Here she is in her temporary new home (right next to my main pc desk)

http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=3831

Questions, does anyone know, if I use an aca500 can I still use an add ide board? I'd like to have a cd-rom on this machine because I happen to have a whole bunch of aminet cd's somewhere...

Oh and I thought the add ide board or something like it was still available. Is this not the case?

New parts needed for the ressurection :

ACA 500

ACA 68030 40mhz accelerator - Just disappeared from AMIGAKIT's SITE.
OH NO.

The damn readout on this tower says 40mhz. They had a 40mhz one, for like 218 dollars.
I was willing to do that but needed to sell some blood first...

I didn't get a chance to sell my blood and now that item is gone from their list.
Sorry I didn't sell my blood fast enough. When can I get this part?

33 won't do. I have no idea how to reset the display. Tower needs 40mhz.

The display says 40mhz. I need a 40mhz accelerator.  ARGH!

When will the 40mhz one be back in stock?

Also needed : indivision ecs.

Compact flash card with amiga classic wb 3.1 installed with whdload and tosec games and demos collection.

Black mouse...

black 20 inch 4:3 lcd monitor...

P.S. - This is the rabbit hole that many go down that makes most choose emulation. I want to rebuild this beast but its tough...

Maybe hold fire for a few weeks and see what happens with regards to these C5 acellerators ? If not on release , theres a chance youll also get an AGA core that will work on your A500.

In the "Post Reply" button there is a button for "Manage attachments" that will allow you to attach photos directly to your post.  Probably the best way to do it.  ;)

@Haywirepc

I sent the Mtec 68020 board with 4 megs of ram working. Were you going to get around to shipping out my GVP 530 board as we agreed? The Mtec board was probably worth $100.00 or so. I could have just held on to it or listed it on Ebay. I was trying to help someone out with a project.

My shipping address WAS sent to you several times, and it was ATTACHED to the package that you received.

Thanks,
-Jeff

Oh and I thought the add ide board or something like it was still available. Is this not the case?

The AddIDE board is a very old product, so I doubt very much that it is still available new from any of our Amiga Online Retailers, but you can probably find one used, or use one of the many other products that provide an IDE controller for different Amiga models.

As for the ACA accelerators, I believe that they were produced in limited quantities, so AmigaKit may be out of stock on them and Jens of Individual Computers might not have any more in stock to sell to AmigaKit and might also not have any immediate plans to do another production run, so you may need to look for it at other Amiga Online Retailers.  I am not familiar with all the details of the ACA accelerators for A500 models, but do have an ACA630 in my A600 and think it is a great product.

You might also want to talk to the guys working on the proposed Apollo FPGA accelerator boards and ask them how soon one of their boards designed for the A500 will be available.  It won't run at 40MHz though, so that might not be what you want.  The Softcore 68k for the FPGA in the Apollo accelerators is reported to be running equal to a stock Motorola 68000 CPU running between 360MHz to over 400MHz clock speeds.

Good luck obtaining all the parts you need, and I hope you don't have to depend on selling blood to purchase everything you need, or you may end up half dead with almost zero blood pressure from selling the amount needed to raise all of the money. :)

@Jeff, I hope you can get your problem with Haywirepc worked out and you receive the A530 as promised.  You might have to contact him via email directly, or through snail-mail, as I am not sure if he is still visiting here to read messages.
