A1200 micro desktop case (a1000?) conversion?

Hi guys

Would a 1200 fit in a a1000 case?

Got a non working a1000 deal and was wondering if I should get it.

Otherwise which would be the smallest case that I could get for the 1200? I am planning to take the board out of the original case, and put it in something that fits under my monitor.

I also would like to use a small ac adapter, but so far no luck in finding a small one, like the ones for the laptops or micro atx case

Any suggestion? I would love like something that resemble the "a1500" mod (it was sold ages ago in UK), or anything low profile that can fit under the monitor

I am quite sure the amiga 1200 motherboard will be to wide for the a1000 case..

It has been done before. The A1200 mobo will fit in an A1000 case. I half finished a project like this myself previously, but had to remove the power supply to get it in. The best mobo for width consideration would probably be the "detachable mouse port" type. I am sure some kind Amigan would willingly do some measurements for you

I see' so it can be done....It cost me 30 dollars, not sure if the power supply would work thou, since the 1200 needs more juice than the 1000 (especially with a 030 card).

I was not sure if it would fit; since I can't find the internal measurements for the A1000 case They only show the outer measurements, which are not that useful to me.

Any suggestions about how to do the conversion ? I am pretty good at putting together a pc, but I am not sure what I will have to do to adapt the 1000

Yeah, but that would be bigger than the original case Trying to get a solution where I do not have the external AC and the computer itself.

I was looking for desktop style case, (like the 1000)since a tower has really no place on my desk (the desktop format can be used as monitor base, and I can disconnect the keyboard if I have to, so I just put in the drawer until I use the Amiga).

Too bad that they don't sell anymore the a1500 case, nor that anyone thought to make a desktop slim case for the Amiga

Since many people here are also modders, I was wondering if anyone did something, beyond the standard tower conversion of the 1200

Plus those cases are generic and over priced. It's the same thing that the old computer company I worked for in the late 90's used to case the low end computers they were selling. Certainly not something that compliments the Amiga 1200.

Yeah, prices are quite wild for certain items.

Altho I won't mind drop 80-100 bucks if I can get a case that fits, has good air circulation, is neat and allows me to keep the AC adapter inside....

So far the A1000 case seems the only one that fits the bill (altho I have to figure out how to put the AC adaptor inside, since if I keep it where it is, the mobo won't fit. Probably I will have to find either a generic laptop AC adapter, that will give enough Ampere for the miggy, or figure out something else...saw the pico AC adapter, altho it still needs a big AC adapter, while the ones that you find around are barely 60W).

I would like to build my own case, but I have neither skill to do that, nor time

Update: so the case that I was supposed to get is gone....the person changed their mind about it, and decided to put it on ebay for 10 times the price I guess (that's what he asked me when I went to pick up the computer).

Anyway; does anyone have any suggestion for a case that is not a tower? I was looking at various cases sold online, and there is not too much selection for low profile cases that would fit the 7 1/2 by 16 inch A1200 motherboard.

I've considered something like an XServe from Apple; that should be big enough to fit it, altho it is incredibly long

Any suggestion anyone? I wish there was something as thick as an Xbox360
