By the way, God of War in Chinese, I think I have heard it as the name Kuan Au but maybe that's Thai sound.I am not sure. And there is another word that probably has the same sound,Kan Ti ,that is kind of chamberlain or something like that.
There are even more references to the same person like Kuan Ti, Guan Di, Kuan Yuh and Wu Ti. Before he became a god, he was also known as Kuan Yu(h), and lived during Han dynasty I believe.
He teamed up with Lui Pei and Chang Fei as sworn brothers and became a famous warrior.This was a period of the revolt of the Yellow Turbans. The three helped to end the rebellion.
He was captured and executed in 219 ad.
In 1594, he was elevated to godhood by the Ming Emperor Wan Li and was given the title: Ti.
