you can verify if its a dead port attaching the device to another, and actually using it on that other usb port if it works. if it doesnt its either the whole card thats dead (unlikely) or a faulty or incompatible device. i have not had an incompatible thumb or another drive on poseidon but who knows, besides if the thumb is older, they tend to break, consider good backups anyway. and for the time being getting a small scsi drive for next to nothing shouldnt be impossible. im certain its the approach/software problem.

Yeah it's just the one port... it recognizes on port 2 and the internal port, but not on port 1.  With the lockups and inability to format a flash drive though I'm dead in the water unless I fork out for a SCSI drive on ebay.

have you genuine daughterboard? buster? 7? have you experienced lockups previously, when you were running the setup with deneb for the first time? unfortunatelly a3k is a little bit rare, so hard to say if deneb has been tested well with that model, but i dont suspect any serious bugs left. you can set your deneb to zorro2 operation mode via jumper setting, just look at the board, its described there. zorro2 should be the safest mode. still lockups?

It's a rev 6.1 motherboard I forget what the daughterboard revision is... it was all working a few years ago then I put it away for a bit.  I probably shouldn't have done that :(

I have the card in RESCUE MODE so it's running in ZII... I need to get a SCSI HD so I can install the OS and see if I get instability w/o the DENEB before I move forward.

I corresponded on fixing it and it looks like it's going to cost close to 100 USD all in... probably worth it in the end but still not sure...

That's cool - thanks for the thought :)

Trying to find one  on ebay that is relatively cheap right now.

you cold also consider an acard ide adapter, but thore are more costly. if you dont find anything i may find something for you. would need to test them though and postage around half a world will probably take a fortune.
