Officially guaranteed, my next Amiga hardware is an AmigaOS 4.x one. I want both worlds, the classic one that is a truck classic and the modern AmigaOS 4.x one. I want one day to be able to play MMORPG games in my AmigaOS 4.x and play games like that of PC in my AmigaOS 4.x * sigh * one day.

Then install an AROS distro on your PC and save yourself a lot of money (and a lot of disappointment too!)

AmigaOS 4.x still retain that feeling of disappointment? Besides AROS distro is not compatible with all PC hardware, I need to buy a specific (sorta outdated) PC hardware from versatile or whatever the name of the website and on top of it, AROS STILL DOES NOT SUPPORT WiFi. Are the software library of AROS equivalent to AmigaOS 4.x or more?

OS4 hardware isn't specific or outdated?
Does OS4 run on the same amount of hardware as AROS?
Is it easy to find hardware that OS4 runs on?
Does OS4 support modern graphics cards from Nvidia or working USB 2.0 for example?

Yes it does. Does OS4?

Yep.  The QA department staffs for most moderately-budgeted MMOs are larger than the installed base of OS4 users on all OS4 platforms combined.

OK. I am convinced then. Will stick with AROS as another alternative..AS LONG IT IS A NATIVE AROS and not on top of some Ubuntu kernal...like Windows 7 or 8 is native then I am happy.

Are you going to be developing for AROS? If not, there is no real need for you to run AROS hosted on another OS.

Hi,

@bigdan,

Only joking with you, wish I could have been there, but alas France (I believe that is where it was at) is far out of realm of reality. Wish I could of seen all the great machines that were there, I remember at one time America used to have a lot of Amiga gatherings, but alas, they all sold out for the PC, which means Perfect Crap.
but
if you take notice, the PC becomes more Amiga like every year, but it takes an awful lot of computing power to do the same things that the Amiga did with elegance.

Well thanks for the pictures and the fun. Don't take the jest to hard, hope you had more fun then I had sitting here looking at the pictures and thinking of old times.

Sometimes I have the impression you like AROS more than AmigaOS. And even more often I have the impression you don't know much about AmigaOS since release 3.1.

im not much into arosx86, but i dont think you need an outdated machine. last time ive checked my i7 was able to boot from livecd into vesa mode  (been only testing something). i m not sure, but nvidia8800 should be kinda supported by now.. anyway i wouldnt buy a dedicated hardware to run anything amiga(like) anymore. if aros runs on my spare pc i might be looking at it one day, but im neither going to buy a second hand mac to run mos, not anything that expensive as is necessary to run os4. currently i stuck to my (true) amigas, running aros mostly on those.

Fixed that for you.

@thread

ok. this has gone on far enough. if you want to convince people the virtues of your platform of choice, you can do so without adolescent sniping at others' choices. the trolling stops. now.
