Count me in for one board. I need a project to take up my free time and what is more worthy than something Amiga?
Copies of the manual and bill of materials would also be great if made available to help us along with getting these setup once we get them so hopefully those can be found and put up someplace.

Considering what happened whan someone uploaded the original files to aminet, I'd encourage getting GB's approval before doing more designs based on his schematic. We have plenty of Commodore service manuals to work from the same way if he doesn't.

And, like some others, I'd like to see new designs go AGA, perhaps with Prometheus built-in (non-profit style only) or Mediator bridge slot for PCI rather than ISA inline on big-box type boards. And 040/060 socket would be nice too. Actually, I'd probably prefer an A3000/4000 CPU slot over a CPU chip socket, and then we could even get CSPPC for OS4. AGA would be a big do over from scratch anyway. And then at some point consider Minimig-AGA in an FPGA rather than actual Amiga chips, once Minimig-AGA is available from Yaqube and MikeJ. (I'm assuming that will be GPL as is original Minimig)

Hope all is well.  Is the manual you have the translated from German version by Kristian Karlshøj, and youself?  If so, great!  I'm working on updating my BOM from the GBA1000 2008' board to this current version 4, which is not much other than getting the pricing from Digi-Key and Mouser.  Will provide it to the group when completed.

is the parts list different from v0 to v4? ie: the spreadsheet in the a1kboard_00.zip is valid for v4?? if you have the v4 files, can you release the spreadsheet?

The spreadsheet in there appears to be good for v4.

As for the GBA1000. Do not forget the board is based on the Phoneix and several expansions that Braun added to form a new design. The schematics for the most part are nothing new, it's several AMIGAs effectively hashed together and held together by Brauns magic and workarouds including the ide controller. It's the board layout/design that is unique. Brauns schematics are easier to read than the Amiga equivalents, this is the point I was trying to make.

the schematics are great, yes. but the spreadsheet tells me I need X count of resister Z, Y count of 74x chip etc. otherwise I have to go over the schematic and try and count each one individually.

the phoenix board was great, we saw quite a few, since they were locally made/designed.

Significant changes will require a lot of engineering, hence for an immediate result, use Braun's V4 as is.

Regarding PCI...A new design in 68060 combined with PLX9054 chip is far superior to anything currently employed on Amiga. Reference the R Czuba designs made for Atari (CT60. CTPCI). Big engineering required to get this into Amiga. Even adapting AGA into the equation will require a bit of effort. Hence I remain content for now with the Braun V4. Not that I wouldn't like these other possibilities in the future however...

Theres actually a now open-sourced AMIGA 4000 PCI expansion so it wouldn't be that difficult if based around the hardware from that. But thats not the point as this thread is about the GBA1000.

I am aware that Prometheus went open late last year. But it is no match for a 68060 talking directly to a PLX9054. I believe Czuba had transfer rates at near 100mb/sec. But as you rightly said, not a point of this thread :)

So what is the current status on the V4 then? Looks like plenty of people will pony up. Looks like Braun-based component BOM is already good to go. My only question is in the gory details of firmware, etc.... One thing for me to build this thing, but getting system running beyond my expertise without some serious instructions for dummies :)

I opened the project in eagle and generated parts list in which creates qunataties etc
eagle didnt like some names so it added a @ after some devices.

Idea: Make a board where any Agnus type of chip can be used ie OCS/ECS/AGA, same for CPU such that it can use 68000/020/030/040/060, and other periphial chips like Paula etc.

Such that any combination can be used depending on what chips can be found from otherwise "dead" motherboards. So if you find a working AGA on one motherboard, 68000 from a second, and Paula from a third.

Practical design would be multiple PCB pads. And possible configuration with jumpers. Ie use the ones you can populate. So that no scrap motherboard components would be wasted.

Nice idea - but you couldn't have a motherboard with AGA and ECS support. Its one or the other. The OCS/ECS is possible with this board to some extent. Don't forget the chip packages are so different across some of the models.
