A1200 stock power supply mod...
« on: October 14, 2012, 08:06:38 AM »
When I recently moved I did not really do the best job of packing some stuff and I ended up breaking the switch on my apower PS...

My A1200 was up and running on a Bigfoot PS with really noisy fan :(

I have an extra apower but it has a CD32 connector, and I did not want to convert it... seems like a waste.

I was looking for a switch to replace the one in my apower but the only one I could find in my junk was 10 amp, but I had an idea.

I decided to put the apower guts in my stock A1200 PS.... My A1200's power supply is a 220 for the UK anyway. (that got me thinking, and just for a laugh I had to Google image UK iPhone charger...  nice... )

Actually everything fit together pretty well and I did not permanently alter anything so both units PS units can go back to their original state.

This actually might be a pretty cool mod if I can find enough room to mount a USB port to power stuff...  I'm pretty sure I can do it but I may have to solder the power cable directly to the apower circuit board to free up space. Otherwise this is sort of pointless as the apower smaller and nicer looking :)

What do you think?
