I have never seen one in my life. Yes i hope he emails you back soon :)

Rats.  He just emailed me to say that it's been sold.  Guess I'll have to wait another 17 years to see an A3000, except for the exorbitant prices that most ebay sellers seem to sell things at, these days.  :'(

Yeah, just checked the listing again. I'm surprised it lasted this long. I put a non working A4000 on Ebay last winter that needed a CPU card and had a broken power supply and maybe other issues that made it a much bigger project than this A3000. I listed  at the exact same price BIN price and it sold within minutes.
A2500 owned since 1993 with A2630/DKB 2632, DKB Megachip, GVP EGS Spectrum, A2320 and GVP HC+8 on the inside and a DCTV on the outside. A4000D with CSPPC, Cybervision 64 and a Flicker Magic flicker fixer. A4000T Toaster Flyer & CSMKII. All systems completly retro and classic and mostly used to do geometic art as in my avatar.

The price is right.  The problem with 3000's is that the battery is around vital components and there is a layer of traces between the mb.

From my experience.  Surface damage where the mb coating is gone and looks nasty is better than seeing very minor damage. The acid had to go somewhere.  The failure rate for hidden damage is higher than what you can't see.

Sad to say but every 3000 I have come across has had battery damage.  Most things can be repaired but you will have to learn how to solder and read a schematic.  I prefer the west Chester builds over the Hong Kong ones.

Learn something new everyday!  I didn't even know that a run of A3k's were produced in Hong Kong.

What was the "buy it now" price out of curiosity?  Curious what it actually went for.

Well, here's another one in a similar price range. Nicer overall but severe battery damage which the seller has honestly described as messing up the 31khz vga out. I took one look at the photo of the pit in the MB and it's obvious how bad it is. Otherwise real clean.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Commodore-Amiga-3000-/251168139001?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item3a7ac9a6f9

Looks like this one is a good project A3000 for someone with the paticience to set it up and then shop around for a good A3000 motherboard to fix the 31khz out and whatever else the battery messed up.
