Get ClassicWB GAAE or 68K and you will get a good set of basic needed software.
You can use WHDLoad and most one floppy games will run fine also alot of 2-3 floppy games will run and if it wont run for memory reasons remove the Preload line to get more multidisk games running.

Yes you are right, i have it and it runs fine both on Amiga 600 and 2000 and, and many thanks for your help with preload option :) many more games run now. that preload must use quite some memory.

The preload basically loads all of the game data into RAM. It makes the game very quick, but yeah, it does suck up memory, so with less than 8 MB, sometimes you'll run into trouble.

As far as games, what kind of games does the OP like?

Your welcome lassie, im just glad to help :) I myself can run quite alot on a stock 1200 when tweaking some with WHDLoad, loading alot of floppies to memory takes it's toll :)
Just saw that my ACA-1231 is shipped so next week I will have some fun :)

64 megs of RAM is basically infinite memory as far as most classic amiga uses are concerned :)

Yes and I can't wait, I want it now :)  I will setup a nice ramdrive and punch WHDL games from it and play around alot!
I had two accelerator cards as options when I decided to upgrade my poor 1200, since I wanted a 030 card and the two I could get my hands on without trouble was the ACA-1231 or a Blizzard 1230-IV 50MHz with FPU and 16MB memory.
I picked the ACA for the endless memory, MMU, it's new so I hope it holds together longer.
The loss of FPU is nothing im worried about since I wont need it to often on my 1200 so the pros weights out the cons for me :)

Edit: I will start a project thread when all stuff arrives, stuff from amigakit is still on pening (ordered the same day but versalia always seems faster for me) and some other stuff from other places are on it's way.

Games are OK, but your Amiga can so much more! You'll want DPaint 4 (Deluxe Paint from Electronic Arts). ImageFX will let you do so much with graphics you have already created (A real must have). Art Department Pro (a little long in the tooth, but still quite handy for graphics work).
Bars & Pipes Pro for working with music.
You need to look into adding more RAM for some more software. But all this should work for you with what you have.
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

Dear Friends:

I already got dpaint 4 installed.
I have original disks for image FX and Adpro, ready to be installed.
(but there is no more room in the HD).
So I guess I will have to up the HD.
I have not Bars/Pipes but have disks for Octamed.
Please keep recommending more software !!!

Thank you !!!

Hi:

I also got deluxe music construction set, I just tried it and loads
fine and work from floppy.
Is only one disk, and it runs super.
It loads in a few secs, so I do not see the reason to install to HD.
I think I can make some room in the HD, and then install
image FX, Adpro and Octamed, if possible.
Love !!!

Ill recomend some programs not mentioned, If you like making music I can recomend Pro Tracker, if you want to compose note by note try Appetizer since it runs fine from floppy, the music program in Appetizer is quite ok and super easy to learn (im no music maker wiz so for me it was ok), if you like to make some 3D images command style why not give PovRay a chance, I would say version 2 would run fine on your machine, version 3 has a non FPU build but it's painfully slow.

Edit: I guess some people here will skin me alive for mentioning appetizer, but I like it, might be becaue it was the first composer I learned to use.

Thanks I hope it will be nice to read/look at, I like the 1200 since it's quite expandable even tho it's a wedge and it got decent hardware :)[/QUOTE

I am sure it will be a nice read :) have you found a cheap Amiga 2000 yet?
