a3640 is a good upgrade from 3630/25. You can easily overclock 3640 to 30Mhz safely (remember that adding a fan is very important) and the speed increase is noticeable, it will sync slightly better with motherboard ram.

The Warp Engine was the best '040 accelerator made. Phase5 didn't catch up with (and surpass) the design until the MK3 Cyberstorm was released 4 years later. Compared to the MK2 Cyberstorm, you have onboard SCSI-2 and much faster memory performance. The only advantage of the MK2 '040 is that it was upgradable to '060.

The GVP cards were great too, though the '040 version took the proprietary SIMMs and SCSI was an option. The T-Rex II was only available in '060 form AFAIK (and was a great card - wish I could find one to replace my MK2 Cyberstorm!).

I have had a look on cpu on ebay. can it be true that a 68060 cpu with 128 mb ram cost 800 dollars?

Might I suggest going for an 060 card if you can afford? It is _much_ cooler running than an 040 which always comes with a heatsink (or fan?).

This will give you a idea of the performance difference between a fast 030 (56Mhz), fast 040 (40Mhz) and 060 (80Mhz).

How fast?
Comparable to a simalarly clocked '060.
And usually available at a better price.

Sounds like a lot for a Cyberstorm MK3 but the Cyberstorm PPC often sells for that or much  more. Ebay prices fluctuate wildly. There were a couple of Warp engines that went for under $200 last winter and a couple that sold for around $400 a few months ago. For an 060 CPU card, the price seems to be around $400-500 with some sellers wanting more. I just checked the current listings for Amiga accelerators and there is only one 060--a phase 5 blizzard for the A2000. The seller wants $600 and its been listed for a while. It would probably sell quickly for $300-$400.

You can often find much better deals on forums but be careful to check a bit on the seller. If it's someone with only a couple of posts, it's risky. If it's an established member with years of posting, usually good. I got my Cyberstorm PPC from a private contact--another old Amigan--who did a lot of serious work with Amigas back in the day. The price was much less than what I would have paid on eBay.
A2500 owned since 1993 with A2630/DKB 2632, DKB Megachip, GVP EGS Spectrum, A2320 and GVP HC+8 on the inside and a DCTV on the outside. A4000D with CSPPC, Cybervision 64 and a Flicker Magic flicker fixer. A4000T Toaster Flyer & CSMKII. All systems completly retro and classic and mostly used to do geometic art as in my avatar.

some ppl said here that the 030 is twice faster per clock but it is not true
the 040 is 4 times faster than the 030 or the 020 at idem clock
ie sysinfo on a 030/25 reports 4.x mips the 040/25 reports 18.x mips
the 040 and the 060 are idem core and will work at idem speed per clock
ex a 040/50mhz is fast like a 060/50mhz

@LaserBack

Don't mistake benchmark figures for real world performance. Most benchmarks use small(ish) loops which favor caches. ALU performance is about 2x, FPU is a lot faster.
