Hi do you think that one day that retro games and consoles will go down in price?

what i think is that in 10 years or so the old stuff will not work any more(most of it at least) and its best selling now, when it still is working and get a good price for it. also the younger generations dont care about our retro stuff, for them ps3 will be the retro thing. while most of the old geezers end up in retirement homes or be dead and stuff dont work anymore. i dont want ending up having the house full of stuff, that i will just have to drive to an desert and have it buried or throw it at an junkyard.

when it comes to prices it will go down fast on most of the stuff. but there will be a few crazy geezers willing to pay millions ofcoz. but in the end when they die, family and relatives will see it as junk and it will just end up in the junkyard. just look at tv pong machines and atari2600, 99% dont know what that is anymore. they see it as junk and most of the stuff dont work either. other problems is what are you gonna play it on?? the modern tvs you cant connect any stuff to them and if you can the picture/color is distorted, framrate out of synch and pixel hell, its just crap....

Yes i have been thinking the same, about the machines stop to work at one time, i have many computers and consoles, and i am now beginning to have some problems with the old ones, and also some games stop to work, so mayby it is just a question of time before they all stop to work

I maintain my machines to avoid them to fail, I bet my collection of home computers/consoles will work in 10-20 years.
You just have to give them some love ;)

I don't really collect anything, but I still have quite a few old consoles and games.
If I could afford it, I would collect arcade games.
I've though about getting a supergun, but most of the games I want require special controls, and not just joysticks.

@scuzzb494

Only the one kitchen sink, then?

@thread

I collect LPs.  I'm collecting DVDs in much the same way I collected the LPs - they're just my movies, but one day, when the technology is obsolete, and almost everyone has disposed of theirs, I'll have my huge collection :-)

ZX Spectrum +
ZX Spectrum 48K With Interface 1 and Microdrive and Cassette Deck.
ZX81 +16K
C64 Original
C64 c  + 1541
All working beautifully.

Lots of Cassettes, Microdrives and Floppies...

But that's all.  I have every computer I ever owned over since 1982. Except my 128D.  But they are so ludicrously priced I don't think I'll ever get one.  This excludes Intel boxes which I throw away after about 6-8 years.
