Hey guys, I'm the current maintainer of Daydream BBS for linux.  I have a bbs at http://telnet://montereybbs.ath.cx if you'd like to see it in action...but it is heavily customized.  :)

That's EXACTLY the way it should be visited :)  Looks good in Topaz!

FYI - I am in Afghanistan and can't use telnet/ssh so I can't do any maintenance on the bbs.  So user accounts, stuck nodes, etc, won't be fixed and updated for a week or two.  Also, new address:  montereybbs.com

Indeed. :) I havent't figured out yet how to have it in colour though. And I'm not sure what screen height to choose. I picked 40 characters, but I have problems in some menus. Maybe I'll try a different terminal program.

Wow, it has been so long ago but I still get that feeling of - hey I gotta hang up soon, otherwise the phone bill will explode. :D

Haha, yeah...I think the best settings are 80x24 or 80x25 for screen size, which is pretty much the default for PC telnet bbses nowadays.  Also, I highly recommend DCTelnet as a client.  It's on aminet.

OK, I'll try those settings.

Won't work on my rather stock A500. It doesn't even have ethernet, I connected with the help of a serial device server. ;)

Haha good to see you mro :)  Hey, do me a favor if you can get the word out there that daydream development will continue once I get back to the USA next week and I'll be back around.  IRC ports, telnet, ssh, anything useful, etc., are all blocked here.

I can provide you a gateway that you can use.

No worries man, I'm home in a week.  To be honest the connectivity is so terrible here that it's pretty fruitless to mess with gateways and proxies.

Today, I booted my A1200 for the first time since the 90's.  When the monitor finally warmed up, I was looking at a black screen with familiar lime green, blue, red, and purple text - it was AmiExpress BBS.  This was the system we used to run our BBS.  What a blast from the past!

Oh yeah???  :)  What version?  Do you have a decent filebase on there, or have any of your bbs file archives?  I have a lot of ami/x stuff but not as much as I'd like.  Maybe you should throw it back online for a while!

v2.39 is the version number.  Yes, I have all of the original download files for Utilities Unlimited, mostly consisting of files for EMPLANT's Mac emulation.  I don't have any modems anymore.

Hello!

For the purpose of testing the Amiga serial port and the old modems, I am searching for some dialup BBS. Are there any left?
